Start with your home
Map your flooring, thresholds, rugs, and furniture clearance. A robot needs room to reach the mess; low furniture, loose cables, and thick rugs can change the result more than a headline suction figure.
Navigation and obstacle handling
Look for room mapping, no-go zones, and reliable return-to-dock behavior if you have multiple rooms. Obstacle avoidance is useful around toys and cords, but capability varies by model and software version.
Dock and maintenance
A self-emptying dock can reduce how often you handle dust. Mop washing and drying systems add convenience and cleaning chores of their own. Budget for filters, bags, brushes, and a place to put the dock.
